Faith & Art at the St Helens Festival
If you managed to brave the mud, you’ll know that last weekend was the St Helens Festival. This year the SHINE marquee took the form of a FairTrade cafe and art exhibition. Art has always been an important part of faith and is one of the ways that people can respond to life and world around them. Like the Psalmist who wrote “When I consider the heavens, the work of your fingers…”. For the festival this year, we gathered a number of Christian artists from churches around the St Helens area to display their work and to share something of their faith and art in the cafe. Our gallery included about 30 works from 7 artists covering a range of subjects and different media. Over the weekend we had many conversations shared over hundreds of cups of FairTrade coffee (courtesy of the COOP). The weather meant the big SHINE marquee was a haven for the weary, wet and muddy!
A big thank you to all those who came to help during the weekend.
